Full disclosure…I am not really loving any of the games this week.  But if I know one thing about gambling its that you lose 100% of the bets you don’t make.  So here are my top 5 plays for college football this Saturday:

Florida State +2.5 @ Clemson

As much as I don’t trust Florida State, I trust Clemson even less.  I feel like Clemson loses these games 100 times out of a 100.  Florida State is the more talented team and will be looking to make a statement after suffering a home loss vs Oklahoma. The Pick: FSU +2.5

USC +2.5 @ Arizona State

I hate USC as much as the next guy, but they can’t be this bad can they?  I mean ASU just lost to Illinois team that is average at best.  Even though the game is in Death Valley, I’ll still take the road team as long as they are more talented 99% of the time.  USC is as talented as any team in the country and I think they show it this week.  The Pick: USC +2.5

Notre Dame -7 @ Pittsburgh

I am a believer in the Irish and I believe they have turned the corner after smashing MSU last week.  7 points is a lot of points for a road team to cover, but the Irish can score in bunches and their defense has been dominant.  Playing Pitt at Heinz Field isn’t exactly playing the Steelers at Heinz Field.  The Irish will have their way in front of literally dozens of Pitt Panther fans in attendance.  The Pick: Notre Dame -7

LSU -6 @ West Virginia

If you read this blog consistently then you know that I am a big believer in the Mountaineers.  I LOVE Geno Smith and Dana Holgersen together.  They are figuring it out and will be easily the best team in the BigEast by the end of the season.  Having said that…I think they may not cover if they were only playing the LSU defense.  LSU defense is scary good.  Like 2000 Ravens good.  Jarret Lee has been efficient lately, and I just don’t respect the Big East as a conference at this point.  The Pick: LSU -6

Vanderbilt +15.5 @ South Carolina

I like what Vanderbilt has cooking down there in Nashville.  After years of sucking, they are finally branding themselves properly…”Come to Vanderbilt, play in the SEC, and actually be able to read”.  They are getting better and have some nice recruits locked in already, but they aren’t close to being on South Carolina’s level yet.  I hate Stephen Garcia, and would love to him fail, but Vandy doesn’t have the horses to keep this thing close on the road. The Pick: South Carolina -15.5

Lock of the Century: NBA Finals Game 4

Miami Heat +3 @ Dallas Mavericks -3

My heart says Dallas, but my head says Miami.  Lebron James had 17 points in Game 3 and Miami still won.  All of these Heat playoff series are playing out the exact same way.  Hard fought throughout the first 40 minutes, then Miami’s talent and team athleticism just takes over in crunch time.  Miami learned their lesson in Game 2 that they can’t take their foot off the gas.  Look for Lebron to bounce back tonight and lead the Heat to a victory.  I am also all about omens. I am in Chicago and it is going to be 98 degrees here today.  Ignore signs like this at your own peril.  I like Miami in against the spread, against the moneyline and I also like the over in total 3pt field goals made. The war against the Costa Rican economy continues. I want the same citizenship medal that Obama gave Bill Russell when this thing is all said and done.

Canada +700 @ USA -315 Draw +325

Over (+140)/Under (even) 2.5

So I am taking the fight right to the Costa Rican’s back yard on this one with my first ever Soccer Lock of the Century.  If there is one thing Costa Rica knows its soccer…at least I assume so.  Doesn’t scare me one bit.  I am turning up the heat in this fight.

Canada sucks.  I didn’t even know they had a soccer team until today.  If I didn’t know about you, that means you aren’t any good.  The moneyline at -315 for USA isn’t all that attractive, but a win is a win is a win.  The over/under is where it gets a little tricky.  We have established that Canada sucks, but after watching part of the USA vs Spain game this weekend I am under the impression that America sucks too.  So will the ineptitude of both teams lead to defensive break downs and an onslaught of offense or will it be a race to the bottom essentially with a 1-0 win for the US?  I’ll go with the under and an American victory.  U-S-A, U-S-A!!!

Vancouver Canucks +105 @ Boston Bruins -125

The Bruins are coming home after having their hearts ripped out in consecutive games in Vancouver.  The Bruins have played much better than I thought they would and definitely deserved better in Game 2.  Alex Burrows getting 2 goals and an assist in a game for which he should have been suspended for biting has got to be a bitter pill to swallow.

The Bruins essentially played the Canucks even in both games and are a good bounce or two away from maybe being up 2-0 heading home.  The Boston Bruins have too much pride to bow out in 4 games and they will use their crowd made up of 18,000 guys from “Southie” to push them over the top.

It’s also time to give Seguin some bigger minutes.  Skate him with Bergeron’s line every once in a while.  He could give the Bruins an added dynamic and it could also keep the aging Mark Recchi more fresh if he takes a few shifts off during the game.

This is a must win game for the Bruins and they have the sand and the skill to get it done at home.  The Sedin Sisters will fold like always in the face of a hostile environment. Bruins and the under tonight.

Dallas +180 @ Miami -220

Dallas +4.5 @ Miami -4.5

Costa Rica is in shambles after I demolished them in Game 1. Going 4-0-1 in various bets.  They are so scared that they haven’t even posted prop bets for this one knowing full well that I will rob them blind again.  Game 2 will play out just like Game 1 did. Relatively close for 80% of the game, and then Miami’s talent will just take over in the 4th.  Miami will not only win, but they will also cover the spread.  Dallas just doesn’t have the horses to win a game on the road.

I am not going sit here and tell everyone that I am some kind of sports gambling genius…but that’s what I am.  Picking winners, beating the odds, and taking down Costa Rica is just a talent that I have inately.  I got a text from a friend asking me to explain to him how I pick winners.  I didn’t know what to say.  I feel like that’s saying to Rembrandt “teach me to paint like you”.

Yesterday I gave the people 5 “Locks of the Century” in the Miami Heat vs Dallas Mavericks, and in Game 1 of the NBA Finals I gave the people 5 winners(well 4-0-1, but still undefeated).  Is this what Tiger felt like in 2000? When do the women start throwing themselves at me?  Sportsbooks of Costa Rica…you’ve been warned.  I am coming for you all.
