Blackhawks vs Canucks post game euphoric rant brought to you by Kelly Clarkson
That is EXACTLY the type of game I wanted to see tonight. Winning games against doormats like Columbus is nice, but the Blackhawks needed to win a hard-fought, tightly checked, emotional game against a top quality opponent to prove that this latest streak is for real. Violence and vitriol. Great hate on display tonight.
Patrick Fucking Kane ladies and gents. That was a terrific game by Kane, probably his best of the season. His hard back-check in the first period nullified a 2-on-1 and set the tone for the rest of the night. He was dangerous and dynamic, while also responsible. He was a superstar and a leader tonight. When his game is on like it was tonight he is a top 5 player in the world.
Where has this Corey Crawford been? I guess it doesn’t really matter as long as he is here now. This was easily his most impressive game of the season. He looked confident. His rebound control was solid. He didn’t get rattled by an early goal that I would classify as leaky. He had an explosion and quickness in the crease that we haven’t seen all year. The fact that he was able to do that on the second leg of a back-to-back suggests that his game has returned and he has finally turned the corner. You can win a Stanley Cup with the type of goaltending we saw tonight.
My only gripe with the Hawks tonight was a lineup decision. Frolik sucks hard. He is the worst player on the team in my humble expert opinion and he brought little if anything to the table. I would have preferred Hayes get dressed tonight. His physicality would have helped in an emotional game and his big body going hard to the net would have given Luongo Big Buff flashbacks.
The Duncan Keith hit was bad. No excuses. You can’t throw flying elbows to the head and pay no consequences. Shane Doan was just given a three game suspension for a similar hit. Doan, unlike Keith, has priors. My guess is that Keith will be given a two game Shana-Ban. Might end up being a nice little restful vacation down the stretch leading up to the tournament.
Bonus of the night was Brent Seabrook getting his helmet knocked off in various scrums. My god what a head of hair. He just pushed Joe Mauer and Troy Polumolu down an elevator shaft. Head&Shoulders commercials better be in his future because you could hit a 9 iron off that salad.
The Canucks are still the Canucks. Just a bunch of gutless pukes. Add kneeing dudes in the balls to hair pulling and biting. Burrows is disgusting. He is a coward. His actions should warrant him a one way ticket to the KHL because that isn’t tolerated in North American hockey.
Even though I still say Stan Bowman overpaid, it’s looking like Johnny Oduya was a great acquisition. He has really solidified the back-end of the team. So Stan…you were right, I was wrong. You’re smart, I am stupid. You’re good-looking, I am…not attractive.
This has been a roller coaster of a season. Moving up and down the standings like its Chutes and Ladders. The Toews injury could have killed the season. Instead the team rallied. They rededicated themselves to defense and came together as a group. If Kane and Crawford play like they did tonight, Toews comes back, and they continue to have this defense first mentality, I don’t see a team in the West that should be a definitive favorite over the Hawks. The Blackhawks have faced a ton of adversity this season, but what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. SING IT KELLY!!!
