WHY DO BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE?! D-Rose didn’t deserve this

April 30, 2012 Leave a comment

This is some bullshit.  Everyone knows how much I despise the NBA culture, but Derrick Rose is one of the few young stars in the NBA that gets it.  He is hard-working, humble, unselfish, and all he cares about is winning.  He is a throw back.  He has been snake bitten all year, but I was praying that he would recover fully for the playoffs in order to stop the world from having to experience a Miami Heat championship.  Not in the cards.  Derrick Rose simply doesn’t deserve this.  If Dwight Howard snapped his femur walking down the stairs tomorrow…oh well.  Guy is a dick.  Probably has something like that coming.  If Lebron got hit by a cab…whatever…that’s karma.  Rose and the Bulls deserved better that this.  I think they still probably beat the 76ers, but that is as far as it goes.  Basketball Gods took down this Bulls team for no good reason.  Now we are all left hoping…hoping that Rose is able to make a full recovery and hoping that the Thunder or the Celtics are able to somehow beat the Heat.

PS: Hey God, I know you’re messing with Lebron by making him go bald, but that guy deserves worse than that. So…how about you play a little defense against the Heat this spring.  Thanks.

Derrick Rose and Evan Turner HATE each other

April 27, 2012 Leave a comment

(Chicago Sun Times)–The Rose/Turner rivalry heated up this week when Turner was asked about finishing eighth in the Eastern Conference and playing the Bulls instead of the Heat. “That means we’re dodging the tougher team,” he told the Delaware County Times. Rose shook off Turner’s comment, but there is little question that the rivalry is for real. It started, at least publicly, in March of 2007. It was of one of the biggest games of the year, a showdown between Simeon and St. Joseph at Northwestern. Rose was regarded as the top player in the state. Turner was challenging Rose for player of the year honors. At halftime, standing near center court, Turner said “Derrick Rose ain’t [crap].” Not everyone heard it, and it didn’t seem to be directed at anyone in particular, but it was unmistakable. In the second half, Rose and Turner really went at it, jawing back-and-forth the entire time. Late in the game, Turner scored on a layup and was fouled. Before shooting the free throw, Turner turned around and said something to Rose. An official approached Turner at the line and defused the incident. Turner scored 29 points, including 20 straight during one stretch, doing his best to back up his bold words. Rose scored 29 as well, and Simeon won 74-66. After the game, Turner’s quotes raised plenty of eyebrows. “I was better than Rose,” Turner said. “With me guarding him he didn’t do much. He knows that, and I know that.”

Three things about this article.

  1. Has Evan Turner been a punk his entire life?  Like his comments about “dodging the tougher team” by playing the Bulls instead of the Heat got my attention.  I haven’t heard anyone say Evan Turner’s name since he got drafted.  If you asked me what team he was on I legit would have guessed the Shanghai Sharks.  So that’s kinda big talk for a scrub that hasn’t done shit in the league.  Then I read further down in the article and realized it was a pattern of behavior.  The “I was better than Derrick Rose” quote immediately following a game where both players scored 29 points and Rose’s team won is just asinine.  Turner isn’t even a has been, he is a never was.
  2. Is Evan Turner the dumbest guy on the planet?  The last thing the Sixers need in the world is a pissed off Derrick Rose.  I would have predicted Bulls in 6 games before those comments.  Now I think the Bulls will sweep them.
  3. Does Derrick Rose like ANYBODY in the NBA?  Legit question.  I feel like Rose hates the NBA culture as much as I do.  Rose is the only guy who seems to understand what a bunch of selfish, soft, arrogant, assholes the NBA has become.  Rose HATES Lebron.  He HATES Dwight Howard.  He HATES Rondo.  And I guess he REALLY HATES Evan Turner.  I love that about Rose.  Just a winner’s attitude.  No time for hugs and handshakes with the scum bags on the other team. He has a game to win.

Bears Day Two Draft Guide

April 27, 2012 Leave a comment

The Bears’ 2nd round pick is the 50th overall.  Bears secured DE help needed by taking McClellin in the first round and should now look to fill holes at WR, OL, LB, TE, or DB in round 2.  The following players would be great acquisitions for the Bears.

Lavonte David: OLB Nebraska

Likely to be gone by the time the Bears pick at 50, but he would be a great fit.  A little undersized, but David is a great athlete and an absolute tackling machine.  Being a smaller OLB in the Bears 4-3 scheme isn’t as big of deal because he won’t be asked to set the edge in the run.

Peter Konz: Center Wisconsin

Bears obviously need OL help.  Selecting Konz would allow the Bears to kick Garza back out to guard and solidify the entire line.

Josh Robinson: CB Central Florida

Arguably the best athlete in the draft.  His workout just about broke the combine.  Not a guy that is ready to step in and start, but he can definitely help out on special teams and in sub-packages as he developes.

Zach Brown: OLB North Carolina

Similar to David as he projects as a great weakside 4-3 OLB.  Has a little bit better size than David, but not as good as a prospect overall.  Definitely a guy that can help the Bears immediately and in the future.

Mike Adams: OT/OG Ohio State

Adams probably has first round ability and size, but effort and decision making have been problem areas at Ohio State.  Bears biggest weakness on offense is still the line play.  Draft this kid and let Tice coach him up.

Bears fans should be thrilled if they come away with any of these guys.

PS: In the 3rd round the Bears selected Brandon Marshall.  Fleeced city. Stupid Dolphins.

6 year-old with autism playing “Piano Man” by Billy Joel and crushing it!

April 27, 2012 1 comment

Talent and stage presence for days.  Absolutely LOVE it.  Even kinda went freestyle on the Piano in the middle there.  Amazing.  Get this kid to Sluggers TONIGHT!

PS: If the Dad was going to try and steal some of his son’s shine by playing another instrument he probably should have been on the harmonica.  Hey dad, have you ever heard “piano man”? No guitar bro.

And the winner of Ms NFL Draft 2012 is…

April 27, 2012 1 comment

My favorite subplot to the NFL Draft is catching glimpses of the rocket girlfriends these instant millionaires bring to New York with them.  It’s kind of hit or miss from year to year, but the 2012 NFL draft had just as much talent in the green room as on the stage.

Honorable Mention: Shea McClellin’s wife/girlfriend/sister.

Can’t find a picture ANYWHERE on the internet and I didn’t record the draft on the DVR so I can’t snap a picture from my TV, but the newest Bear had a nice little redhead at his table.

Second Runner-Up:  Mrs. Robert Griffin III a.k.a. Rebecca Liddicoat

Not bad RGIII, not bad at all.  This guy just keeps surprising me.  Never crossed my mind that he would have a rocket like this on his arm.  Winning the Heisman and going 2nd overall paying off for the brother.

First Runner-Up: Team Matt Kalil

Total team effort here by the Kalil entourage.  Hot girlfriend…seen that before.  Hot sister…more rare, but it happens.  Hot mom…has probably happened at some point.  However, NOBODY has ever had all three at the NFL. Showing up to the draft with the mother-sister-girlfriend trifecta makes Phil Humber’s perfect game seem common place. Effing USC guys, even the big fat linemen have smoking hot girlfriends.  Not sure if his girlfriend Mary-Kate Fitzpatrick went blonde, or if this is a new girl, but Kalil is killing it.

Miss NFL Draft 2012: Lauren Tannehill

Just wow.  Had to pick my jaw up off the floor when they panned to Lauren Tannehill.  If you read this space regularly you know my type…petite, blonde, and blue eyes.  Well Mrs. Tannehill fits that to a T.  Rocket city.  Maybe I should have become an NFL QB instead of a blogger.  Probably too late now.  Damn.

Getting to know Bears 1st Round draft pick Shea McClellin

April 27, 2012 Leave a comment

  • DE/OLB from Boise State
  • 6’3″ 260 lbs
  • 50 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 2 interceptions as a senior

Shea McClellin is a prospect that really flew up the draft boards after he put up good measurables at the combine and scouts went back looked at tape.  I typically don’t like prospects like that, but McClellin is a guy that checks out in terms of character and he also fills a need.  My chief concern(pun intended) is that McClellin isn’t really a fit from a scheme stand point.  He is a little undersized to play defensive end with his hand on the ground in running situations.  Most teams projected him as a 3-4 outside linebacker in the NFL.  Maybe he can play with his hand on the ground, or maybe Emery made this pick with an eye towards the future when he fires Lovie Smith and brings in a coach that runs a 3-4 defense.  Also, for a pass-rusher I feel like 7 sacks is a bit low.  Boise State plays in a weak conference and almost always had big leads, which means other teams would be passing the majority of the time in an effort to catch up.  So if McClellin was playing DE against weak competition knowing that he was able to just tee off on the QB, I think he should have been able to come up with more than 7 sacks.  Who knows though, maybe he is a stud and the perfect fit opposite of Peppers. In this era of the NFL teams aren’t in their “base” defense more than 40% of the time anyways, so taking a situational pass-rusher in the first round isn’t a bad move.

PS: It’s really bothering me that I can’t find a picture of his little redheaded rocket of a girlfriend ANYWHERE on the internet.  If you’ve got one send it over.
