They are who we thought they were: Canucks are AWFUL

I am not going to sit here and say I told you so, but I totally did.  The Canucks are a joke.  The softest team in the league. Unworthy of being in the Stanley Cup Finals.  The Canucks are a classic “fake tough” team.  They will push you and try to get under your skin by diving, chirping, biting, throwing head shots, and complaining.  If you stand up to them and push back at them they will completely crumble.  The Bruins took it to the Canucks physically and they whimpered away.

NHL Network was really rushing to the defense of the Canucks last night. “Kesler must be hurt. Luongo has vertigo. Burrows is menstruating, blah blah blah”.  Truth of the matter is that this is just who the Canucks are.  They are a group of cowards who barely beat an injury depleted Blackhawks team in a rebuilding year. They just suck.

Now I even think Vancouver is delusional.  Bieksa called Tim Thomas “leaky” in the post game and said that they were showing him too much respect.  Yeah, real leaky goalie in net for the Bruins.  The Canucks have scored under 2 goals in three of the 4 games and on top of that Thomas has more hits in the series than the Sedin Sisters combined.  Showing him too much respect? How, by trying to slash the stick out of his hand and running him every chance they get?  Burrows even tried to fight Thomas.  Who fights a goalie?  Burrows is pathetic.

The only chance the Canucks have to salvage this series is to start Cory Schneider, but even the Boston native Schneider sounded like he wanted to part of the Bruins. “None of the goals were Roberto’s fault. He deserves to be in there for game 5.” Come on now, Cory.  You went to Phillips Andover and graduated from BC with honors in 3 years, you’re smarter than that.  Luongo’s legs were more open than Lindsay Lohan’s on the Peverly goal.  Ryder’s shot looked like a peewee shot it.  The only goal that wasn’t on Luongo was Peverly’s second goal.  Other than that Luongo was responsible.  Maybe Schneider doesn’t want to alienate his hometown team. Maybe he is afraid of the Bruins.  Maybe he is just as delusional as the rest of teammates.

This series is over.  I originally predicted the Bruins winning in 7 games, but now I don’t think it will take that long.  Long live the Original 6.  AMERICA.

PS I love Milbury in between periods.  Calls the Canucks “smug and arrogant” during game 3 and has the line of the year when he referred to the Sedin Sisters as “Thelma and Louise”. Just perfect. If NBC could replace Pierre McGuire with Darren Pang it would be the greatest hockey broadcast crew ever assembled.

As a Bruins fan whose best friend is a Blackhawks fan, I must say this was the most entertaining Hockey column I’ve read in ages. I’ll be passing this on to my friend from Chicago, count on two more regular readers. Cheers.

    • June 9, 2011 at 11:29 am

As a blackhawks fan whose best friend is a Bruins fan…welcome aboard. Thanks for the nice words and for reading. Original Six Reign. Unless you’re from Montreal, Detroit, New York, or Toronto.

  2. June 9, 2011 at 11:41 am

Thelma and Louise had balls, it’s more like Mary-Kate and Ashley Sedin.

    • June 9, 2011 at 11:48 am

haha, nice. I love it. Not going to lie…I am probably going to steal that line.

  3. June 9, 2011 at 12:17 pm

I agree , that was a great article , keep it up man , hope the bruins finish those little girls off .

    • June 9, 2011 at 12:28 pm

I hope so too. The vision of a Mary-Kate and Ashley Sedin each holding up one side of the Cup would be unbearable. The Bruins have the sand to make it happen. So many likeable guys on their team. Just curious, where are you guys finding the blog originally?

  4. June 9, 2011 at 12:34 pm

Someone posted it in an ESPN comment box. Or some comment box somewhere talking about how everyone hates the Canucks

No you’ve done it to me…thanks. haha. Hey…not to sound like a complete dip shit, but how did you get the youtube video embedded like that? I can’t figure it out.

  7. June 9, 2011 at 12:58 pm

I posted the link and it embedded itself. Nothing fancy.

    June 9, 2011 at 1:10 pm

Ha! Vigneault and the Vancouver players have stated, to a man, that they play between the whistles. How about Sedin continuing to take a pansy run at Marchand 2 seconds after the whistle blew the play dead?

Two more games… just two more games.

    • June 9, 2011 at 1:16 pm

Not sure if that was Mary-Kate or Ashley taking a run at Marchand, but I dont think Henrik has a SOG in the series and they are like -12. pathetic. Joke of a team. I feel guilty for my team letting them get to this point. Loved that Marchand dumped on that.

      • Mick
        June 9, 2011 at 2:27 pm

It was Daniel… and Henrik did nothing about it. They won’t do anything. And that is why the momentum has swung in Boston’s favor.

Just realized at the end of the vid ,Marsh Mon (as we like to call him here in Boston) skates by the Canucks bench and wipes his hands like he just made quick work of those two!! Fucking classic!!! Love him!! reminds us of Kenny Linsman!! The RAT!!

    • June 9, 2011 at 1:41 pm

Marchand is an asshole…in a good way. He plays hard and tough and annoys the shit out of people, but doesnt cross the line like Burrows or Lapierre. Love that guy

Nucker- You’re satisfied with all those things you listed? That says a lot. Here in Boston, it’s Cup or bust.

Mayor- I posed your latest on boston.com earlier this morning so some of the traffic may be from there too.

      • June 9, 2011 at 2:24 pm

thats loser talk. Nobody in Vancouver was satisfied with those things two games ago. Now they are just trying to put a positive spin on the season.

Thanks for doing that. I have gotten more traffic from boston.com than I did yesterday actually.

  12. June 9, 2011 at 1:49 pm

Biters, whiners, head hunters, floppers, (academy award nominee in there somewhere) Yeah, I’d say that’s a pretty bad team.

    June 9, 2011 at 2:45 pm

You missed the point. You’re whining that the Canucks “aren’t good enough” to be in the finals. I’m showing you evidence of their achievements so far. Vancouver will not be happy with just those, but having said that, this season has been THAT much better for them than the rest of the league. Haters keep hating… And the dive thing is so old. The Bruins have done it, all teams have! Savard is a repeat-offending biter but you all seem to think Burrows is the first & only.

    • June 9, 2011 at 2:52 pm

I am not familiar with the Savard biting, and I am not even sure if you are talking about Marc Savard or Denis Savard.

I am a Canuck hater. No doubt about that. They are “good enough” obviously since they are there. There is a difference between being good enough and being worthy. The Canucks play a gutless eurotrash style that is an affront to the hockey culture.

      • Nucker
        June 9, 2011 at 3:12 pm

Marc Savard. Suspended – Biting 2003. Accused – Biting Carcillo 2010 Playoffs.

      • June 9, 2011 at 3:18 pm

2003 was pre-lockout. It was anything goes back then. Doesn’t count. Carcillo is a liar and a loser. I can’t believe he doesnt play for the Canucks already.

    • BostonPucks
      June 9, 2011 at 3:33 pm

Nucker- Context is everything. If Burrows had bit Marchand, the Bruins (and fans) wouldn’t have been nearly as upset. Marchand walks a fine line (though as the Mayor says he hasn’t truly cross it yet). Bs fans would’ve assumed Marchand said or did something to fire up Burrows. Instead, Burrows chose to chomp down on Bergeron AFTER Burrows was the instigator in that scrum. Burrows picked one of the biggest class acts in the NHL to do that to. And to add insult to injury Lapierre sticks his fingers in Bergeron’s face in Game 2. Add in the Rome torpedo headshot and your boys poked a sleeping bear one too many times.

I don’t want to see biting in hockey, but if ever there was a situation where it made some sense – it was Savard last year. Savard was coming off the vicious Cooke hit that, in retrospect, signaled the likely end to his career (and probably years of headaches and depression). The biting incident was maybe 2-3 games into his return. And who came looking for him … that upstanding hockey citizen Carcillo. Carcillo was roughing up Savard’s head; Savard wanted no part of it given his head injury; Savard just wanted out of the situation.

      So let’s see:
Burrows = instigator w/ one of the classiest players in the NHL; then when it’s a back and forth scrum bites Bergeron
Savard = skill player who doesn’t fight coming off major head injury getting attacked in the head by a major goon in Carcillo bites to protect his head

As for diving, if you mean a Bruin has embellished at some point in the post-season. Sure. I can think of a Chara embellishment and Thomas did it in Game 1. But it’s rare for a Bruin to dive and when one does, it’s usually embellishing an actual penalty. The Canucks have more dives in one game than the Bruins do all playoffs. It’s just not even close.

  14. June 9, 2011 at 3:10 pm

Marc Savard was accused of biting Carcillo in the playoffs last year. No one saw it.

If Crawford gets some help from his D then you just might. Never said the Hawks were bad. Just saying, like their style or not, the Canucks are a very good team. When they try to play Bruin hockey instead of their own, they get easy to beat.
And anyone who saw the CBC broadcast of game 4 can tell you Ference deserves an Oscar nod for drawing a high sticking call.

      • June 9, 2011 at 3:46 pm

Thats fine man. They are a good team. I just dont respect the way they play. I wouldnt have this much venom if someone like Detroit or really anyone else was playing in the Finals. Ference got clipped, moved his head like a basketball player, and got the call. Bieksa did the same thing. I dont care how tough you are, anytime something hits your face you are going to move. Human nature.

The Hawks defense is as good as any in the league. Keith had an off year and admitted that he was “tired” and didnt prepare the way he should have. Live and learn. They played in the conf finals, the olympics, and then the stanley cup. Plus all the roster turnover. This was a transitional year for the hawks and they still were one goal away from being in the finals.

I love this blog! I think its great that the bruins have supporters outside of Boston. Someone posted it on barstool and everyone there liked it. Idk if you have heard of barstool but it takes a lot to impress people on there.

What I thought of the game: luongo looked shaky after peverly’s first goal. He never got his confidence back after game 3 and that 5 hole goal made him doubt himself even more. Burrows slashing the stick out of Thomas’s hands was a classless move. Thomas said in a post game interview that burrows had tried to do it 3 other times before that. I think Thomas giving him a love tap on the leg was warranted but burrows the pussy couldn’t handle it. After marchand flipped sedin over ballard came over to challenge him. Then erhoff decided he would be 3rd man in and came over too. So erhoff thinks its ok to double team the smallest player on the ice but when mcquaid came over to challenge erhoff he immediately turtles like a pussy. He is exactly like kostitsyn on montreal, he starts shit but hides when he is about to get his ass beat or sends gill out to defend him. By the way marchand was more than ready to take on both canucks players at the same time but erhoff pussies out of a 1-on-1. The final point of my rant is that mcquaid held back when erhoff turtled. He could have easily beat him in the back of the head but he didn’t. Remember the kesler v seidenberg fight when Kesler only threw punches once they were on the ground? It’s good to see that in a similar situation the bruins had more respect and dignity than the canucks did. The bruins need to win this series mostly for themselves and us the fans but also for the rest of the league. Nobody elsse wants to see these classless assholes win the cup. I Love this blog!! GO BRUINS!!!!

    • June 9, 2011 at 5:12 pm

Haha, yeah I love the stool. Good to know windycitizen is impressing everyone…except El Pres. He posted that Daily Herald article which is a Suburban Chicago paper that sucks. Like, wtf Pres, throw me a bone.

Everything you’re saying is spot on man. I respect Kesler for actually throwing with Seidenberg, taking the buckets off and actually fighting. The extra punches on the ground is against “the code”, you’re right but I overall didnt have a huge problem with that. Its like number 239 on my list of grievances against the Canucks in this series. McQuaid throws absolute bombs from what I have seen so good thing he didnt hammer away at Erhoff because he would be…DEAD. I hope its Luongo in game 5, its not worth winning if you cant win big

      Thanks for reading. Go Bruins.

Right on about all of this. I’d add one thing: did anyone hear the Vs announcers after that whole scrum? I think it was Olczyk saying what a dangerous play it was by Marchand (ducking a late hit by D.Sedin). Is he nuts? He was commenting on the replay so I guess I’ll give him a pass as to not realizing the whistle had blown already. If he knew about the whistle and still thinks it’s a dangerous play, he’s an idiot.

Let me get this straight, if someone is lining you up well after the whistle (D.Sedin easily could’ve pulled up) you have an obligation to stand there and take the hit? Marchand had stopped playing already … his only option not to get killed is to duck. He had no momentum left to absorb the hit. Anyway, pretty hilarious that the one time a Sedin tries to hit somebody: (1) it’s late and (2) he still wound up contorted on the ice. What a bunch of frauds those two are.

  18. June 9, 2011 at 5:13 pm

as a bruins fan I will chime in and say Savard although incredibly talented and a good teammate is a punk, diver and bites. if he doesnt retire vancouver should trade for him

    • June 9, 2011 at 5:19 pm

Lets not speak ill of the dead. Savard may have done some of that when he played for Atlanta and Calgary…probably not while wearing an original 6 uniform.

      • BradTheLad63
        June 9, 2011 at 6:20 pm

True. Savard has been known to be a punk in the distant past but since joining the bruins has become more mature and acts like he plays for an original 6 team. I also give credit to Kesler for taking off the helmet and dropping the gloves with seidenberg however throwing punches while the other player is on the ice is closer to the top of my list. Ya mcquaid is hands down the most under rated fighter in the league probably because he is a rookie. Check this out nest bruins game all year. I know Campbell got his ass kicked but Thornton and mcquaid owned: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xu5B2vNq0GE&feature=youtube_gdata_player

      • June 9, 2011 at 6:50 pm

McQuaid is an entertaining fighter because he doesnt seem to give a shit about getting lit up. Hes more than happy to just trade bombs until the other guy’s brain looks like scrambled eggs

Just leave it up. The symmetry between the Canucks’ fans and the team is impressive. The bigger Q is does the team take after its fans or the fans the team? The hilarious thing is any Canucks on this board (Ya Me, I’m looking at you) have done nothing but name call and make blanket statements with no specifics to back it up. And after a few exchanges where it’s evident we know our hockey and can back it up, they say “you don’t know anything about hockey.” It just sucks when facts get in the way.

The Canucks and their fans talk a bunch of smack, which tells me they’re scared. They should be.

Sigh. Delusional statement. Boston, a slow, dirty-playing, low-skilled team with delusional fans that think when the other team plays like Boston that other team is the bad guy.

The Canucks only mistake was playing down to them. If good hockey is your game, find a different team other than Boston. Sit down and analyze the plays… you will find a nearly 2-1 ratio of Boston gutless cheapshot hacks and wacks over what the Canucks did. As stated before, you guys don’t know hockey and are completely blinded by your yellow tinted glasses.

If Boston actually had some real competion in the first 3 rounds they wouldn’t have even made it to the finals.
